MILWAUKEE'S VORBERG NAMED PLAYER OF WEEK

The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Milwaukee Wave goalkeeper, Nick Vorberg, has been named the league’s Player of the Week for the seventh week of the 2012-13 season. Vorberg recorded 30 saves on 31 shots as the Wave took a 9-2 victory against the Chicago Soul on Friday night.

Vorberg shone particularly brightly in the opening half as the Soul carried the majority of the play. Chicago, looking to take victory against their regional rivals, outshot the Wave 47-24 for the game, with Vorberg recording 19 of his saves in the opening 30 minutes.

Vorberg’s play allowed the Wave to stay in the game as they edged to a 7-0 lead with one goal in each of the first three quarters. Carlos Farias spoiled Vorberg’s shutout bid 4:46 into the fourth quarter, but that would be the only goal the Milwaukee goalkeeper would concede as he lowered his points against-average to 6.38 and raised his save percentage to .840.

The Wave’s Marcio Leite also received an honorable mention for the week.

The Wave’s next home game is December 22nd against the undefeated Baltimore Blast. Saturday night’s game is a rematch of the past two MISL Championship Series as the Blast visit the Milwaukee Wave at U.S. Cellular Arena at 6 p.m. CST.

Flex pack tickets and individual game tickets are on sale. Visit www.milwaukeewave.com or 414.224.9283 for more information.
